Demo Version 0.2.0 Released!


Hello all!

I'm happy to announce that after months of hard work, I'm ready to release version 0.2.0 of the available demo. This comes as a pre-release before NottsVGE 2025, as that is the version I will be showcasing there.

It also comes as one of the last demo releases of the game, as I have finished the entire thing end-to-end, and am now just polishing and bug fixing!

Changelog:

  • Fixed teleporting logic setting "isTeleporting" flag to true regardless of the player's decision to teleport or not.
  • Reworked the soundtrack for inside the ship.
  • Reworked the game over screen wording from "File: Erased" to "Records: Obscured" as this was making people believe their game file was erased, when the intention was that records on Captain Jaxon were destroyed in-universe.
  • Fixed a major bug with logic important to the main game, but it affects the demo as it has changed the way saving happens internally.
  • Stopped a hanging note on the boss fight theme song.
  • Removed collisions from the walls of the "power off" scenes.
  • Moved the place where the player gets the gun to the lockers at the bottom-left of the ship scene instead of the computer box because it's a little more obvious (because they're lockers).
    • Also made a small "cutscene" to guide the player to them as people weren't finding the original location
  • Added a small text prompt for the skeleton boss fight if the player chooses to teleport, and a "cutscene" if they're extracted automatically as part of the puzzle.
  • In the moon surface scenes, it was impossible to lose O2 unless a certain condition was met that made no sense (and was impossible to achieve in the demo).
  • Stopped the player being able to interact with the FNQ alignment puzzle once they'd completed it.

I've posted a couple of new GIFs of some things that appear later in the game to tease you all ;)

That's about it for stuff relevant to the demo, though there has been so many changes, and months more work put into this. I'm really hoping for a late-2025 release, but if not early-2026!
